About the program

The Pharmacy Technician course from Conestoga College includes the basic biological sciences, pharmacology, pharmaceutical calculations, compounding and sterile preparations. Through a combination of theory, practical laboratories and work experience placements, graduates are prepared to practice to the full scope of a Registered Pharmacy Technician as they receive, order and manage inventory, prepare, compound and dispense medications, and assist with the provision of pharmaceutical care and pharmacy services.

As a pharmacy technician, individuals can pursue rewarding careers in various settings, including retail pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, long term care facilities, compounding pharmacies, home healthcare services, and pharmacy informatics. As per Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) requirements, students must successfully complete the Pharmacy Technician Program within 4 years of admission.
