About the program

Technical Product Managers (TPM) are multi-disciplined organizational enablers of software and hardware products. With the strong and growing tech sector in Waterloo (our own Silicon Valley North), local companies need talented TPMs who can bring skills in communications, technologies, leadership, and creativity to an organizational objective. As a position working with multiple teams in a company, this program suits those with an engineering or technology background who are curious by nature and are driven to create new innovations that provide novel and valuable solutions to real-world problems.

Throughout this Technical Product Management (Optional Co-op) course from Conestoga College, you will also gain valuable knowledge in financial management, vendor relations, strategy, agile analysis, design, and product management techniques.

As a graduate, you will have many of the skills necessary to start your career in the exciting field of Technical Product Management, having completed a major capstone project to share with future employers.

This program offers a one-term co-op work term to students who meet the requirements.

Careers

Graduates will be well-prepared for careers as technical writers, content marketing writers, editorial and proposal document officers, and facilitators/trainers in a variety of sectors including government, health, manufacturing, Students entering this program could come from a multitude of other programs including Computer Programming Analysis (CPA), IT Innovation and Design (ITID), Computer Applications Development (CAD), Computer Application Security (CAS), Computer Systems Technician (CST) and many others.

This program provides students with advanced level understanding of how entrepreneurial and other product-focused decisions on technologies are made in organizations. Graduates may choose further specialties in graduate certificates such as Project Management, Global Business Management, or Digital Solutions Management. Graduates that meet admission requirements, may also choose to pursue an MBA or Master of Engineering to further their studies.technology, engineering, and finance. Job opportunities are available in professional, scientific, and technical services; computer and electronic manufacturing; educational services; government and public administration; administrative and support services; and publishing industries.
